Opening on August 9, 2017, The Camp at MidCity District in Huntsville, Alabama, was developed by RCP Companies as an "early activator" and precursor to the massive $1 billion multi-use development. Built on the former site of the Lone Star Steakhouse—adjacent to where the closed Madison Square Mall once stood—it was created to inject a vibrant, culture-forward vibe into the evolving area while larger surrounding projects were still under construction.

Serving as the "heartbeat" of the community, The Camp has grown into a premier outdoor leisure and small event venue. Over the years, the venue has expanded its footprint to feature the Greenroom Coffee Shop, the Tamarind Island Grille, rotationally curated food trucks, and a full bar housed in retrofitted shipping containers and Airstream trailers. It also acts as a launching pad for local musical acts and arts festivals, establishing itself as a fixture of the regional music scene.

As the larger MidCity District has developed, The Camp remains an anchor for outdoor leisure. To accommodate this ongoing success and the district's continuous $1B,, plans were announced in late 2025 to officially relocate and further expand The Camp toward the very center of the district.
